Biographical Sketch: Frederick GRAVENIR

FREDERICK Q. GRAVENIR

Frederick Gravenir studied planning and economics of education at Charles University, Prague, where he obtained his masters and PhD degrees. His work experience includes the planning section, Ministry of Education, Ghana, teaching at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, Kenyatta University, Maseno University, Moi University, Egerton University and the University of Nairobi, all in Kenya. He has been Head of Department, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Head of the Institute of Open Learning, Director, Board of Postgraduate Studies, Director of the Institute for Research and Development and now Director, University Advancement, Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.

Professor Gravenir has accumulated a considerable research experience having published several scholarly papers and contributed chapters to books as well as participating in several international and local conferences. He has won a number of research and workshop grants and served as consultant to a number of projects funded by international NGO�s. In early 2007, Professor Gravenir was a Japan Foundation Fellow and spent 2 months in Japan researching on �Research in Universities in Japan: Identification of Best Practices�.
